The U.S. embassy in Brazil reported on Monday on his Twitter account that President Barack Obama, who visits the country this weekend, will deliver a speech on Sunday (20th) afternoon at Rio de Janeiro. The speech will be made in the Municipal Theater inthe downtown area.
The mayor of Rio Eduardo Paes, Governor Cabral and the U.S. ambassador to Brazil, Thomas Shannon, met in the early afternoonon Monday (14), the Guanabara Palace, on the details of the visitof the President U.S. to Rio de Janeiro. After the meeting, the cityof Rio announced that the speech will be free, open to the publicand directed to all Brazilians, with input from 11.30am. There will be translation. Information will be released by the U.S. Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro.
There are reports, unconfirmed by the Consulate General of the United States in Rio, that Barack Obama will visit a community in need of the city pacified by the police and Christ the Redeemer.
